One of the Major Causes of My Depression – Part 2

The problem with comparing yourself with others is a) you’re never going to win, there will always be someone smarter, prettier, faster than yourself and b) you’ll never appreciate the gifts you were given. Facebook is the worst prompt for this type of thinking.  Babies, houses, engagement rings, PhDs (sometimes even job promotions) – all being thrown in your face one after another. It can drive a woman nuts! Studies have even shown that Facebook can cause depressive moods.

So the question is, if I know this is a cause, how do I deal with it? Delete my Facebook account? Try to only make comparisons of myself (where I am now versus where I’ve been), instead of looking to others.

How would you deal with this issue?

Hey there, I have struggled with mental health issues as well. I want you to know that it got better for me. I was able to get out of it and create a happy, healthy life for myself. You can too. Most of my blog is focused on living a healthy and happy lifestyle.

      Hi Sara,

You are gorgeous! I like your post about travel. Can’t believe you’ve been to every state. The idea has never crossed my mind but that could be a fantastic life goal. Also check out this link on gratitude ( I think you’d really like it as it relates to the post you did on New Beginnings 🙂 Enjoy!
